Using it with no signal

SupportNear saves itself onto your phone the first time you open it, and you can download a whole city to use offline. This page explains both.

Download a city, like in Google Maps

  1. Open the map and go to the city or area you want.
  2. Tap the menu button (three lines), top left, to open the menu.
  3. Choose Save this area for offline.
  4. Pick how much: just around here, the whole city, or city and outskirts. It tells you roughly how many megabytes each one is.
  5. Press Save and wait. Do it on wifi if you can.

From then on that area opens with no signal, no data and no wifi: the map images, the help points, the addresses and the phone numbers. Saved areas are never deleted to make room — you delete them yourself from the same screen.

  • Tap the SupportNear logo, top left, to open the menu.

    Nothing to install from a store

    There is no app on Google Play or the App Store, and there does not need to be. Opening supportnear.com once with a connection is enough for it to save itself.

    Keeping it on your home screen

    Android (Chrome)

    1. Open supportnear.com.
    2. Tap the three dots, top right.
    3. Choose Add to Home screen or Install app.
    4. Confirm. An icon appears like any other app.

    iPhone (Safari)

    1. Open supportnear.com in Safari.
    2. Tap the share button, the square with the arrow.
    3. Scroll down and choose Add to Home Screen.
    4. Tap Add.

    What works offline and what does not

    Why it is built this way

    Whoever needs this map the most usually has the cheapest phone, the worst connection and the least credit. So the page loads no external fonts, no libraries and no analytics: everything travels inside it, it opens in under 250 ms, and map data comes down in pieces — only the square you are looking at.
